We’re Jenny and Blake, and we love hot sauce. Well, not too hot. We also love nuts. So we decided to put the two together.
NUTS hot sauce was born from a simple idea: hot sauce doesn’t have to blow your head off to be exciting. We balance fiery chillies with peanuts to create something creamy, spicy and seriously delicious, with enough heat to keep things interesting without ruining your day.
We make every batch of NUTS hot sauce ourselves in Sussex, in small batches so we can keep a close eye on every bottle that leaves the kitchen. We’re all about flavour first, with the heat there to add to the experience, not take it over.
The idea actually started at home. When we were cooking things like noodles and tacos for the kids, we’d put out little wedges of lime, crushed peanuts, coriander and chilli for everyone to try and add to their food. We loved how those simple extras could completely change a dish, and it got us thinking about putting some of those flavours together in a hot sauce.
We started looking around. We couldn’t find anything else quite like it. Peanuts are everywhere in food, and hot sauce is everywhere too, but couldn’t find anyone putting the two together, so we thought, why not try.
Then there was the Great Taste thing. Blake had become slightly obsessed with those little gold stars and decided it would be fun to try and get one. So, naturally, we thought: why not make a hot sauce and give it a go?
That became our first flavour: Lime, Peanut & Scotch Bonnet. Bright, savoury and full of flavour, with a proper chilli kick. And to our delight, it worked. We won a Great Taste Award.
Then came our second flavour Pineapple, Peanut & Yellow Habanero, a little fruitier and sweeter, but still with plenty of warmth.
And something funny happened. People who told us they didn’t like hot sauce started telling us they loved NUTS and people who said they didn’t like peanuts changed their minds.
For us, that’s what NUTS is about. Doing things a bit differently. Trying combinations we haven’t seen before, having a go at something completely new, and seeing where it takes us.
We’re having a lot of fun doing it.
So don’t be shy. Give NUTS a go.
You might just find your new favourite hot sauce.
